Mapping AI applications onto the political process

This piece aims to provide a list of AI applications that could conceivably be incorporated into democratic systems, where the democratic system is abstracted based on the inputs-throughput-outputs-outcomes model (I-T-O-O model). While it cannot claim to be complete, it aims to provide a wide variety of examples as a first step at prioritizing governance research into the interaction of AI and democratic processes. It assumes prosaic (rather than transformative) AI and explores how it might be put to work in present day systems. It then analyzes some threats and opportunities of some of the most salient models.
